Successful discussion

“I invite you to be agents of transformation and liberation in Cundinamarca. The world must know that this new paradigm of transmodernity and translocality is real and possible, and that it will most certainly bear fruit for society and the future of education in our country.” With this clear and moving message, Rector Adriano Muñoz Barrera concluded his remarks at the forum held at the Soacha campus.

The rector explained in detail to the students the stages of this process of change in the education model and invited teachers and students to learn about the guidelines of a new multidimensional learning model.

He insisted that the University of Cundinamarca should encourage the creation of new technologies that can stop globalization, where a single student can be capable of transforming their environment, modifying it in a way of thinking and a philosophy of respect for others, for nature and society under democratic values, civility and freedom.

Rosa María Rodríguez Magda, a graduate in Philosophy, attended the discussion as a special guest, defending her theory of transmodernity as a challenge and synthesis between the material and fiction, necessary to overcome modernity.

Student representatives, for their part, affirmed that this discussion experience is important, but stressed the need to emphasize pedagogy for both teachers and students. “It is necessary to transform. To go beyond current models, but it is relevant to know what our conditions will be in this new model,” stated Raúl León, student representative for Physical Education at the Soacha campus.

During the talk with the students, Dr. Amanda Pedraza also spoke, emphasizing the need for a new ethic of solidarity and responsibility towards others.

For her part, Ángela Merchán, director of the Self-Assessment program, insisted on the need we all have for new roles within the transmodern educational process, which must be transversal and vertical, in which the student is a manager and the teacher a promoter.
