The dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Vilma Moreno Melo, directors of the Cartography and Agronomy programs, and teachers belonging to four research groups delivered to the rural community of the Guavio village the study and strategic report for the integral management of water in the case of the Batán River sub-basin and the irrigation district of the La Esperanza farm of the University in Fusagasugá.
The macro-project led by the university institution consists of the topographic, planimetric and altimetric survey in which information was obtained from the sector and the corresponding area so that the communities with the delivered topographic design can establish the Batán river irrigation district.
This report, presented to the rural community and Community Action Board of the Guavio village, showed the distribution network of the irrigation district, the length of the existing pipe, its condition and the elements that make it up, such as the connections of the users that are part of it.
Given that the rural community obtains water through hoses, the report showed a physicochemical and microbiological sampling of the water in relation to its quality, which is not suitable for human consumption, since the laboratory showed the presence of feces, larvae and other organic agents.
The study used the georeferencing technique in accordance with the standards and coordinate systems of the Agustín Codazzi Geographic Institute (IGAC).
It is worth noting that the "jalona" macro-project is driving the implementation of the irrigation district for the farm, the University's agricultural practice center. The project also includes a socioeconomic study and environmental training for local educational institutions with support from the CAR Fusagasugá.
Following the formal delivery of the irrigation district study to the rural community of the Guavio village, led by the president of the JAC, the next step is to continue the management process with the competent entities for its implementation.
