Students excelled at CLACSO 2025

Students from the Bachelor of Social Sciences program at the University of Cundinamarca actively participated in the X Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences – CLACSO 2025, held from June 9 to 12 on the campus of the National University of Colombia.

This important international academic event, which brought together more than 930 research centers and postgraduate programs from 56 countries, was supported by the Academic Vice-Rector's Office and the Research Directorate.

Jorge Leonardo Tapias Ordoñez, Knowledge and Learning Manager and program coordinator, highlighted that this participation strengthens the academic training, critical thinking, and international projection of future professionals.

During the meeting, students and teachers presented various papers, including: “Orality and tradition”, by Ivonne Nayibe Pinzón Parra, “Youth citizenship and educational institutions in Cauca”, by Felipe Andrés Bernal Sandoval, “Transmission of cultural knowledge in the indigenous community of Alto Putumayo”, by Karen Sofía Chaves Benavides, “Popular football and resistance”, by Omar Fabián Rivera Ruiz, “Food industry in Granada, Cundinamarca”, by Michael Loraine Segura Cruz and Ruth Ximena Vargas López, “School and armed conflict”, by Lesly Marcela Ortega Noruega, “Ethnography of the Plaza Mayor of Mesitas del Colegio”, by Santiago Jácome Molina, “Youth, gender and school dynamics”, by Loan Suesca González, “Geographical Coffee of Soacha”, by Julio César Guasca.

The book launch was also highlighted. “The common good as a horizon of peace and resistance”, with chapters written by professors Felipe Andrés Bernal and Omar Fabián Rivera, presented at the CLACSO International Book Fair.

Ivonne Nayibe Pinzón Parra, a final-semester student, expressed: “This experience represents an invaluable space for my training as a teacher and researcher. It not only allowed me to present my work, but also to learn from other cultures and academic approaches.”.

For his part, Santiago Jácome Molina, also a participant, stated: “Being here means participating in the heart of the Latin American academic debate. It means contrasting realities and enriching our research with new perspectives.”.

The participation of the University of Cundinamarca in CLACSO 2025 reaffirms its commitment to a critical education, connected to the territory and to the academic dialogue of Latin America.
