Strengthening ties with local culture

In the Chía extension, from October 17 to 20, the University Fair Strengthening Tourism in the Sabana Centro Region will take place, which will feature a business exhibition, conferences on financial administration and cultural and sporting activities, among others.

UCundinamarca News spoke with one of its organizers, knowledge manager Edison Padilla, about the relevance of this type of activity in which knowledge, learning and experiences outside the classroom are also generated.

UCundinamarca News: What is the objective of this fair?

Edison Padilla: The goal is to further position UCundinamarca as an institution that impacts its environment, in accordance with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model. A key element of this is our strategy of engaging with the internal and external community, ensuring our visibility and fostering a sense of partnership in areas such as business plan development for entrepreneurial ventures.

UCundinamarca News: What activities will take place at the fair?

Edison PadillaAt this event, we will have artisans and others dedicated to cultural tourism, through which we want to highlight all that ancestral knowledge. Along these lines, we wish to rescue and document the region's heritage crafts, such as the weaving of Cajicá, which has been gradually disappearing. Therefore, we want to offer training and strengthening programs for these types of activities. For this, we have partnered with the cultural departments of neighboring municipalities, who will help us bring them here. We will also hold a day called Ancestral Tourism and an entrepreneurs' fair.

UCundinamarca News: What should a student or individual do to register and have their stand that day?

Edison Padilla: Starting today, Monday, September 18th, we will be visiting different classrooms across the university, promoting the event and explaining to students how they can register their businesses. We will provide them with a short form for them to fill out and provide their information. There is also the option for external individuals who wish to be exhibitors to register through a link that we will make available tomorrow. The requirement for exhibitors is that they reside in the Sabana Centro Region.

UCundinamarca News: In terms of conferences, what have you scheduled?

Edison PadillaWe will have some important activities, such as the one on October 19th, where we will hold a job fair accompanied by conferences on what comes after graduation and others related to new trends among YouTubers, TikTokers, and others. Similarly, there will be another session on how to ace an interview, create a resume, and discuss the development of cultural and ecological tourism, as well as financial literacy.

UCundinamarca News: For parents who wish to attend, what are your plans?

Edison PadillaFor them we will have the 360-degree university life event where parents can learn about the institutional dynamics in which their children participate from Monday to Friday when they attend classes.

UCundinamarca News: What other activities will they develop?

Edison PadillaWe will have musical groups for people to enjoy, and activities such as mini-football, table tennis and volleyball, and at night there will be a moonlit gathering on the terrace, while downstairs the official closing ceremony of the fair takes place.
