Strengthening the research culture

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Office of the Communications Advisor

The Girardot branch celebrated the outstanding participation of its Environmental Engineering program in the XXIII Regional Meeting of Research Seedbeds RedCOLSI, Bogotá-Cundinamarca Node, held from May 8 to 9 at the Nueva Granada Military University, Cajicá (Cundinamarca).

During the experience, the knowledge and learning managers, Diana Carolina Molina León and Dalia Xiomara Suárez Pulido, participated in the Meeting of Seedbed Coordinators, a fundamental space for the strengthening of academic networks and the management of collaborative projects.

Molina León, leader of the PROSOST Seedbed, emphasized that these types of scenarios “constitute a strategic platform for scientific dissemination, allowing students to apply knowledge from a critical and transformative perspective, in accordance with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT).”.

Furthermore, he highlighted the presence of renowned universities such as Universidad Central, Universidad EAN and Universidad de La Sabana, reaffirming the inter-institutional and integrative nature of the event.

In the research field, students Lucía Chantre and Luisa Quintana, from the Ecoingenio Udecino Seedbed, presented the project “Evaluation of bioplastics from microalgal biomass obtained from photogranules in agro-industrial wastewater”, a proposal aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the circular economy.

For her part, María Paula Sánchez Molina, a member of the INVECOS Research Group, presented the research “Evaluation of the functionality and toxicity of carbon points for the detection of Pseudomonas sp. in drinking water,” a project coordinated with the University of Quindío, which seeks to impact public health in Espinal, Tolima.

“It was an enriching experience, as I was able to connect my work with other researchers, receive feedback, and strengthen the scientific approach of my proposal,” said Sánchez Molina.

These investigations demonstrate the commitment of the University of Cundinamarca to the training of young researchers capable of providing innovative solutions to the problems of the territory, promoting the CTEM+H approach (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and humanities).

The meeting not only showcased the talent of the emerging researchers, but also consolidated the students' research identity, enhancing their capacity for scientific argumentation, academic communication, and ethical responsibility.
