Strengthening the country's bioeconomy

By Carolina Rojas Cendales – Communications Advisory Office.

On September 18th in Yopal (Casanare), the Animal Science program from the Ubaté branch participated in the 3rd International Symposium on Basic Sciences in Applied Chemistry, organized by the International University of the American Tropics (UNITRÓPICO). Knowledge and Learning Manager Oscar Lombo Vidal presented the paper: “Antioxidant Compounds from Green Coffee Byproducts to Produce Packaging Biomaterials Capable of Inhibiting Lipid Peroxidation in Food.”.

“I was invited as a speaker, where I shared with the academic community of the Casanare and Orinoquía region knowledge about the application of chemical processes to be more efficient and sustainable in the agro-industry and to obtain biomaterials and bioproducts from residual biomass, contributing to the strengthening of the bioeconomy in the most productive regions of the country,” said the Knowledge and Learning Manager.

For Oscar Lombo, it is “important for researchers at UCundinamarca to contribute to and support spaces for dialogue between researchers, professors, students, and entrepreneurs; to foster the generation of new knowledge and collaboration in technological development, innovation, and research projects; to strengthen knowledge collaborator networks; and to increase the University's visibility on crucial current issues for the country, such as bioeconomy and circular economy.”.
