Ensuring that business ideas become ventures and that graduates or students generate income, employment, among other advantages for their future, is one of the objectives of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Field – CITGO of UCundinamarca.
“This initiative originated from the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences at the Chía Extension and has grown to encompass the main campus, extensions and branches where we have Business Administration at UCundinamarca, such as Fusagasugá, Girardot, Facatativá and Ubaté, in accordance with the translocation established in the MEDIT,” explained Professor Jorge Rico, leader of CITGO.
Since 2017, CITGO has advised more than 200 young people to strengthen their business ideas so that they become successful ventures. “We have seen ventures from different programs, business ideas that are already bearing fruit and providing benefits for the region,” Rico pointed out.
“The first step is the interview with the CITGO leader, who, based on this information, outlines the type of venture and the phase it is in: ideation, validation or consolidation, then outlines a route or strategy to provide support with teachers in the areas of accounting, finance, marketing, product design, human resources and legal area.
A recent report by Portafolio magazine states that, according to the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, the Bogotá/Cundinamarca region is the most dynamic in business creation with 28%, followed by Antioquia with 12.%, Valle del Cauca with 9%, Cundinamarca with 7%, Santander with 6%, Atlántico with 5%, Norte de Santander and Meta with 4% respectively, Boyacá and Tolima each with 3% and the rest of the country with 27%.
For his part, Professor Rico, who has led CITGO since its creation, stated that entrepreneurs must be in constant training, which is why, from this entrepreneurship unit, talks are organized, information is provided about calls for proposals, and the network that has been built is updated.
Currently, entrepreneurs have access to funds, accelerators, incubators, and other spaces that enhance their opportunities to succeed with their ventures.
