The Academic Council, in its ordinary session of August 3, 2021, approved the University Social Responsibility guidelines, as an institutional commitment to operationalize the mission policy of social interaction, articulating the dimensions of MEDIT with the Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs – set by the UN, which represent the greatest social, ethical, economic and environmental challenge.
“After seeing and understanding the crisis that our society is experiencing, we align ourselves with the SDGs and commit to contributing to their dissemination and promotion from the perspective of social responsibility within the framework of the ISU Policy and MEDIT,” explained Dr. Víctor Hugo Londoño, Director of University Social Interaction.
For her part, Patricia Gil, leader of University Social Responsibility – RSU, explained that the new guidelines approved by the Academic Council aim to guide institutional decisions, actions and responses in relation to Social Responsibility and Sustainability at UCundinamarca.
“With the strategy that has been developed from RSU we managed to define institutional criteria based on a scenario of encounter between the dimensions of MEDIT, the areas of interest and the impacts of Social Responsibility,” explained the RSU leader.
Currently, different organizations have focused their attention on compliance and promotion of the SDGs, which is why, as a higher education institution, UCundinamarca adopted this new goal, in accordance with the objectives of the educational model and the concepts of Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development.
The approved RSU guidelines will be shared with the university community to strengthen their implementation and ensure their adoption within this university community.
