Generate a headline: The swimming team continues to consolidate its sports process after its participation in the I Departmental Checkup Summer Dolphin 2026, an inter-league qualifier in a 50-meter pool, held in the city of Ibagué on February 20, 21 and 22, with the presence of swimmers in children's, youth, senior and master categories.
During the competition, the athletes demonstrated discipline, commitment and competitive evolution, managing to approach the minimum marks required for higher level competitions.
The team's coach, Anyi Lorena Colmenares Galeano, explained that the delegation included four swimmers, who took advantage of the check-up to verify times and measure their competitive progress.
Among the outstanding results, athlete Tomás Macías obtained first place in the 200 meters backstroke with a time of 3:36, in addition to getting close to the minimum mark in the 50 meters freestyle, registering 35 seconds, with the goal of reaching the 28 seconds required to qualify for the interleague championship.
For his part, Jerónimo Mora participated in five events, achieving positions close to the podium, including:
Swimmer Dana Martinez had her first experience in a 50-meter pool, participating in six events and achieving second place in the 200-meter butterfly, with a time of 3:49.
Isabel Ortiz Herrera also had an outstanding performance, achieving four podium finishes:
The athlete is also close to achieving the minimum qualifying time in the 50-meter freestyle, showing significant progress in her preparation.
The sporting event brought together 116 athletes from 12 clubs across the country, establishing itself as a key competitive evaluation platform. The coach highlighted the support of the Academic Sports Center (CAD) and the ongoing involvement of the parents.
Finally, the team will continue its preparation for the upcoming competitions: the Interclub Swimming Tournament, scheduled for March 28 at the Italian Center of Bogotá, and the Girardot City Cup, which will take place from April 16 to 19 in conjunction with the Cundinamarca Swimming League.
With these results, the UCundinamarca club reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive education, promoting sport as a setting for discipline, well-being and excellence.
