On October 23, 2024, the Soacha extension held the Translocal Forum, a space that allowed the university community and the public to learn about the progress in key areas such as investments, training, research and university welfare of the regional unit.
In an interview with the UCundinamarca News Agency, engineer Jesús Enrique Pabón Quintero, administrative director of the Soacha extension, presented a positive assessment of the academic and administrative management for 2023. “The Translocal Forum demonstrates that we are on the path to strengthening our Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), and progressing along the accreditation route, highlighting important processes such as the monitoring and fulfillment of our institutional objectives,” stated Pabón Quintero.
In the academic sphere, the director highlighted the progress made in research and accreditation. “One of the major achievements has been strengthening the Research Seedbeds (STD) of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering. Initiating the institutional accreditation process is a significant step forward for the Soacha campus, which will allow us to consolidate our academic standing,” he emphasized.
In administrative terms, the director highlighted the efforts to improve infrastructure and expand educational coverage. “We are working closely with the Ministry of National Education on a comprehensive coverage plan. Furthermore, we have improved several spaces at the extension campus and opened new spaces for students in collaboration with the Municipal Education Secretariat,” he stated.
Pabón Quintero also highlighted the importance of synergy between the faculties and the administrative leadership, which has enabled coordinated work in science, technology, innovation, and academic support. Furthermore, he emphasized the focus on the well-being not only of students but also of knowledge managers. “We have achieved significant results in well-being, which benefit the entire university community,” he concluded.
The Translocal Forum is consolidating itself, as well as being a key space to review progress and strengthen the commitment of the Soacha extension to the academic and social development of the region.
