Soacha is a city that welcomes businesses and entrepreneurs. With this in mind, the University of Cundinamarca launched its Industrial Engineering program, which aims to provide the region and the country with professionals capable of diagnosing, designing, improving, and integrating industrial systems, enabling them to address any type of problem related to business management. These engineers will be able to work in diverse fields. The program is coordinated by Engineer Luis Ignacio López Farfán.
At the sports level, Soacha is a departmental powerhouse, and many of these achievements are thanks to the professionals in Sports Science and Physical Education from UCundinamarca. This program trains professionals "with a solid scientific foundation in their discipline, a proper understanding of the social context in which the profession is practiced, and appropriate technical training for effective action." The program has a strong social component, as it involves all its students in community projects, thus contributing to improving the quality of life for the most disadvantaged.
The Software Development Technology program, coordinated by Engineer Jesús Enrique Pabón and offered at the Soacha Extension, has helped many young people in the region to develop professionally and in different companies dedicated to the field of computer science and telecommunications.
Both Industrial Engineering and Software Development Technology students complete their practical training in the HAS-200 Laboratory, a modern space managed by the Extension's Administrative Office. This ensures that the extensive knowledge acquired in the classroom is supported by a suitable infrastructure.
In addition to the two undergraduate professional programs and the technology, there is the Specialization in Pedagogical Processes of Sports Training, coordinated by Edilberto Torres Mariño.
Since Fabio Julio Gil Sanabria took over as Administrative Director of the Extension, it has become more open to the community. Today, the University is a space with open doors for community leaders, single mothers, and children; the latter benefit from the sports training groups directed by the Professional Program of Sports Science and Physical Education.
“A total of 400 people from the municipality have benefited from the courses and diplomas offered by the sports science, industrial engineering, and software technology programs, which train people with visual impairments. In 2018, we were able to train around 700 people, including single mothers and young people, in various sports,” said the Extension Director.
In addition, the outstanding work being carried out by the University Welfare coordination with the professional Katherine Albarracín Sosa, a psychologist who contributes to the development of strategies and programs that benefit the university population.
The UCundinamarca is the driving force behind the development of Soacha, providing the population with qualified professionals and excellent human beings, becoming the Alma Mater of the young dreamers of Cundinamarca.

The headquarters for high-performance athletes
1,114 graduates of the Sports Science and Physical Education program at this campus have positioned the University as a brand with outstanding professionals in different sports disciplines.
Fernando Ardila, a graduate in Physical Education, has been with the University of Cundinamarca for eight years, the last three directing the Sports Science and Physical Education program. During his tenure, the program's curriculum has been updated, the self-evaluation process for accreditation purposes has been completed, and UCundinamarca students have been placed in leading Colombian sports organizations. He has also facilitated student exchange programs.
Clearly, the university continues to provide the country with professionals capable of working in both conventional and Paralympic sports. Among the outstanding athletes who graduated from Soacha are cyclist Daniel Martínez, billiards player José Juan García, and athlete Cristian Villamil, among others.
