UCundinamarca News Agency (ANUC): What is the overall assessment of the management during the 2024 period?
Jesús Enrique Pabón Quintero (JEPQ): In Soacha, we have an open-door policy to welcome not only our community but also those who are part of this transition toward accreditation. It has been a positive year, highlighting advancements such as the initial conditions for the Professional Program in Sports Science and the strengthening of our collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Special Assets Society (SAE) to expand university facilities and add new programs.
ANUC: What do you consider to be the main academic achievements obtained in 2024?
JEPQ: We highlight the progress made in the initial stages for the Sports Science and Industrial Engineering programs, the strengthening of the Software Engineering program, and the launch of the Business Administration program. The latter had over 270 students enrolled for the first semester of 2025 in the evening program, a significant expansion of our academic offerings. In addition, we submitted accredited programs such as Geomatics Engineering, Surveying, and Public Accounting.
ANUC: From an administrative perspective, what outstanding advances or achievements were made during the year 2024?
JEPQ: We secured funding for a new building with the Special Assets Society, designed to house five engineering programs. We also made progress in coordinating with secondary education, delivering infrastructure such as the synthetic turf field and improvements to the Varón del Sol auditorium and gymnasium. We closed the year with the emerging technologies laboratory, a significant investment in software engineering education.
ANUC: In addition to what has been mentioned, what other relevant aspects marked this period?
JEPQ: The introduction of the Business Administration program doubled the number of admitted students, reaching over 1,000. This growth underscores the need to expand academic coverage in Soacha, which will be a strategic priority for 2025, along with the development of new infrastructure.
