From November 10 to 14, 2025, the Fusagasugá campus becomes the epicenter of agricultural knowledge and innovation with the Week of Animal Science, an academic and practical experience that highlights the institutional commitment to the sustainable development of the countryside.
For five days, students, knowledge and learning managers, producers and national and international experts participate in a program that includes congresses, exhibitions, business rounds and collaborative learning spaces, all aimed at strengthening the link between academia and the productive sector.
This year's agenda includes high-level experiences such as the International Sheep and Goat Congress, the International Bovine Congress, the Third Sheep and Goat Exhibition, the Third Bovine Exhibition (milk and meat), as well as a Business Roundtable and the International Equine Congress, which will culminate with the highly anticipated 15th edition of the Equine Festival 2025.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Jhon Alexander Moreno Sandoval, emphasized that this experience focuses on the Cultural Learning Field that the institution offers to the community. Furthermore, it strengthens the students' comprehensive education by allowing them to interact with producers, businesspeople, and experts, connecting theory with practice in real-world settings.
Likewise, he pointed out that the University's commitment to the territory is evident in the transfer of knowledge and in the articulation with actors in the agro-industrial ecosystem who are committed to the sustainable transformation of the countryside.
For her part, Karen Patricia Montoya, Knowledge and Learning Manager of the Animal Science program and member of the organizing committee, highlighted that the III Sheep-Goat Exhibition, organized by the UCundinamarca Sheep-Goat Club, has consolidated itself as an academic and productive space that promotes learning, innovation and the strengthening of the livestock sector.
He added that, in this 2025 edition, the event had the endorsement of the National Federation of Goat and Sheep Farmers of Colombia (FEDEANCO), which highlights the institutional commitment to the development of small livestock farming, sustainability and good production practices that contribute to the progress of the Colombian countryside.
Furthermore, the experience was integrated with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), strengthening students' skills through real-world learning practices, collaborative work, and technological innovation, reaffirming the University's leadership in comprehensive education and sustainable agricultural development.
First-semester Animal Science students José Luis Castillo and Karol García emphasized that Animal Science Week was an enriching experience that allowed them to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom, interact with producers and experts in the sector, and experience firsthand the realities of the agricultural field. They agreed that these events strengthen their professional training and promote hands-on learning, knowledge sharing, and integration with the agricultural community.
The competition, organized by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the Animal Science program, has the collaboration of the Academic Support Unit and strategic allies in the sector, which contribute to the strengthening of production chains and the transfer of knowledge to rural communities.
With academic sessions, livestock exhibitions, demonstration practices and integration spaces, the 2025 Zootechnics Week is consolidated as an experience that promotes learning, innovation and sustainability, ratifying the institution's leadership in the training of professionals committed to the development of the Colombian countryside and positioning it as a regional and national academic benchmark.
