The University of Cundinamarca is making progress in a fundamental process for its institutional growth: self-evaluation. This participatory exercise involves the entire university community in the review and continuous improvement of academic quality.
Melissa Rincón Verdugo, manager of the Office of Self-Evaluation and Accreditation, explains that this process goes beyond simply meeting requirements. “It’s a tool that strengthens the quality of academic programs and ensures that students receive the best possible education,” she says. Self-evaluation allows the institution to demonstrate its commitment to educational excellence and continuous improvement to society.
The process follows a structured route that includes information gathering, results analysis, identification of strengths, recognition of opportunities for improvement, and formulation of specific action plans.
This methodology ensures that programs meet national and international quality standards, opening the door to academic accreditation and recognition by the Ministry of National Education.
Leading role of the university community
Students, knowledge and learning managers, graduates, administrative staff, and directors actively participate by contributing ideas and proposals. This involvement translates into visible improvements in education, research, well-being, and community outreach. Community participation makes each member a key player in university transformation, strengthening their sense of institutional belonging.
Accredited programs provide added value to students and graduates in the professional and academic worlds. Accreditation represents greater career opportunities and recognition of the quality of education received. This process directly benefits those who entrust their professional training to UCundinamarca, guaranteeing superior educational standards.
The institution reaffirms that quality is not a destination but a continuous journey of collective development. Every member of the community plays a fundamental role in this ongoing improvement process. Self-evaluation becomes an investment in the future, continuous improvement, and the strengthening of institutional identity.
The University of Cundinamarca remains committed to building a university that transforms lives and communities through quality higher education. Self-evaluation is a strategic tool for achieving this goal. This technical process transcends administrative procedures to become an institutional philosophy centered on excellence and service to the community.
The self-evaluation strengthens UCundinamarca's position as a regional and national educational leader. The results of this process will benefit not only the university community but also the development of the Cundinamarca department. With this initiative, the university reaffirms its leadership in public higher education and its unwavering commitment to academic quality and social transformation.
