The Environment Secretariat of the department, in compliance with the objectives established by the departmental development plan, opened the “Second virtual contest of environmental education in the department of Cundinamarca”, which aims to recognize innovative initiatives and solutions to local or regional environmental problems and that also improve and protect the biodiversity of the region.
The departmental initiative is aimed at institutions and organizations that are part of the legally constituted Interinstitutional Technical Committees for Environmental Education, CIDEAS, such as municipal administrations, Community Action Boards, water associations, Educational Institutions (public and private) and local environmental NGOs.
The competition will recognize projects that have an environmental education component in the following areas: water conservation and efficient use, solid waste management, circular economy, climate change, biodiversity, and protection and conservation of natural resources.
“Our task is clear: to work with the communities of Cundinamarca’s 116 municipalities to achieve changes in attitude that improve environmental culture and education in order to reduce the deterioration of the territory’s ecosystems. To this end, we will support the best projects that have innovative ideas and, above all, that focus on the protection and environmental balance of the department’s more than 24,000 square kilometers,” stated Nidia Clemencia Riaño, Secretary of the Environment for Cundinamarca.
The deadline for submitting projects is April 30, 2021, at 4:00 pm, to the email address [email protected] where all the requested information must be attached, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contest, which can be found on the website: www.cundinamarca.gov.co in the link of the Ministry of the Environment
The proposal fulfills the goal of the + Sustainability Axis, the program "Change is in your hands", of the Departmental Development Plan, Cundinamarca, a region that is progressing.
