As part of MEDIT's second anniversary, Global Vision was held at the Chía extension on August 22nd. This event, led by the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences, demonstrated how the Educational Model positively influences the transformation of individuals and society.
Among the participants of Global Vision were Dr. Juan Carlos Rivera, director of the Economics program at EAN University; Dr. Irma Soto Vallejo, coordinator of ORMET Caldas; and Ms. Celeste Romero Soto, advisor at the University Center of Guadalajara (Mexico).
The guests shared their experiences in sustainability and environmental issues from the public university perspective, and how they contribute to global solutions in environmental and social equality matters, and how they address problems through teaching, in addition to learning about their sustainable training models.
“We showcased MEDIT’s experiences and what it has been during these two years, highlighting, for example, its impact on translocal training processes in the socio-economic environment; an exercise that also allowed us to learn about the positions of other institutions and their sustainable training model,” said Carlos Trujillo, coordinator of the Business Administration program, Chía extension.
The activity, which was attended in person by more than 300 people, was also carried out virtually, reaching the Fusagasugá, Girardot and Facatativá campuses simultaneously with the support of the Business Administration programs in Chía and Ubaté, as well as Public Accounting and Systems Engineering in Chía.
Finally, the event provided an opportunity for students attending to discuss how they have addressed sustainable development goals such as inequality, sustainable production, and responsible consumption within their professional careers.
“Our university defines itself as translocal, as reflected in the MEDIT, with the perspective of defending its identity as a public university, understanding itself from its departmental context and its reality in the face of globalization,” stated Alejandro Flechas Montaño, dean of the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences at UCundinamarca.
