The institution celebrated a new international academic achievement thanks to the participation of students Dary Gisseth Rivera Cuervo and Yuri Tatiana Salinas, from the Graduate Institute, who distinguished themselves at CIENTEC 2025, the International Education, Science and Technology Fair held from November 23 to 27 in Lima, Peru. Their project entered the Top 10 of the best initiatives among the 100 projects selected in Latin America.
Both students, enrolled in the Specialization in Management for Digital Transformation, represented UCundinamarca with the support of the Research Directorate. They competed in the corporate sustainability category against projects from universities in Brazil, Chile, Peru, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Curaçao, and other countries in the region.
According to the students, their research focuses on evaluating corporate sustainability from economic, social, and environmental perspectives. They point out that, although this concept has been widely discussed since the Brundtland Report (1987), significant challenges remain in measuring the effectiveness of the practices implemented by organizations. The project proposes an expert-validated instrument that allows for determining the level of sustainability in Colombian companies.
The study used a mixed-methods approach that included a review of scientific literature, analysis of non-financial reporting models, and validation through expert judgment by 15 specialists. As a result, three essential factors for evaluating sustainability were consolidated: environmental aspects, social aspects, and corporate governance.
For Dary and Yuri, being among the top ten projects of CIENTEC 2025 “represents recognition of the University's research work and the potential of Cundinamarca's talent in international settings.”.
Their participation not only projects UCundinamarca onto a global stage, but also reaffirms the importance of promoting applied research that provides real solutions to the Colombian business sector.
With achievements like this, the University of Cundinamarca continues to strengthen its international presence and promote research that impacts the region and the country.
