The National Government is conducting Binding Regional Dialogues in 51 territories across the country. These are participatory forums to which all social sectors, communities, and the general public are invited, so they can submit proposals that will serve as the basis for developing the 2022-2026 National Development Plan.
On Friday, November 11, one of these meetings took place in Girardot, with the local branch of the University of Cundinamarca (UCundinamarca) serving as the venue chosen by government officials in charge of organizing these participatory events. More than 1,700 people from 36 municipalities attended this important activity. Minister of Culture Patricia Ariza Flórez attended as a government representative.
The Administrative Director of the Girardot branch, Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz, emphasized the importance of the University of Cundinamarca's involvement in these dialogue spaces. He explained that students, faculty, and staff from the institution participated in this process in two ways: by taking part in the various working groups where proposals from the community were gathered, and by contributing 100 volunteers to the logistics required for an event of this magnitude.
The Minister of Culture, Patricia Ariza, stated that what is being developed in all these participatory spaces is much more important than a four-year government development plan. It is a life plan that involves the future of everyone in the country.
Events like this contribute to raising the profile of UCundinamarca as the public university of the department and correspond to the translocality and education for life approaches promulgated in the MEDIT Digital and Transmodern Educational Model.
