The Directorate of University Social Interaction (ISU) and the Equity and Diversity area of University Welfare, carried out on August 20 in the Soacha extension, the experience “Empowerment, Equality and Fight Against Gender Violence”, guided by Diego González, coordinator of Gender and Childhood of Global Compact Network Colombia.
González stated that “today we face the challenge of making universities, companies, organizations and schools increasingly aware of the importance of promoting gender equality and strengthening the fight against violence in all its forms.”
The event brought together students, Knowledge and Learning Managers and collaborators, in a day of reflection on the importance of recognizing individual and collective strength to act against any form of violence.
For Liliana Margoth Rodríguez Bolívar, director of University Social Interaction (ISU), these experiences are key because they strengthen university social responsibility, “We continue to promote sustainable practices and adopt the Sustainable Development Goals to advance the 2030 Agenda, forming individuals committed to democratic values who contribute to making the world a better place.”.
Similarly, Catalina Lozano, leader of Equity and Diversity, highlighted that these spaces allow us to identify inequalities and build community, “They help us develop values such as respect, empathy and social awareness, as well as prevent gender violence, discrimination and harassment, generating safer and more respectful environments at the university.”.
During the conference, the need to move towards environments free of discrimination, with equal opportunities and respect for diversity was emphasized. With this, UCundinamarca reaffirmed its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 5: Gender Equality.
The institution, through its Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), continues working for a university community that transforms lives and leads processes in favor of equity and social justice.
