Recognition of excellence in university libraries

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

The University of Cundinamarca continues to stand out nationally for its processes of innovation and educational transformation. This time, it received third place in the category “Libraries that Leave a Mark” during the II Day of Recognition of Transformative University Libraries, held on April 23rd within the framework of the International Book Fair of Bogotá, FILBo 2026.

The recognition, awarded by the Colombian Chamber of Books and Digital Content, highlighted the impact of the Center for Knowledge Management and Learning (CGCA) as a space that transcends traditional library services and consolidates itself as a meeting place, well-being and growth for the university community.

Nilson Muñoz Hurtado, training leader at CGCA, explained that this distinction recognizes the work that the University has been developing to generate meaningful experiences for students, Knowledge and Learning Managers and administrative staff, promoting environments that inspire learning, tranquility and innovation.

“The purpose of the CGCA has been to become a space that connects knowledge, fosters creativity, and strengthens human development. Beyond providing library services, we seek to positively transform people's lives,” he said.

During the event, the CGCA's ability to strengthen access to knowledge, promote technological appropriation, and foster creative, inclusive, and participatory educational experiences was also highlighted.

This recognition adds to the one obtained at the FILBo 2025 Libraries in Digital Action Awards, where the University of Cundinamarca was recognized for leading innovative strategies for access and use of electronic resources focused on learning and research.

The CGCA highlighted that these achievements are the result of coordinated work between the different regional units, whose teams have strengthened processes related to the culture of knowledge, academic training and digital transformation.

With this new recognition, the University of Cundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to excellence, innovation and the construction of transformative experiences, consolidating the CGCA as a benchmark in knowledge management and university well-being in Colombia.
