Recognition at the Night of the Best

The Ministry of National Education, within the framework of the Night of the Best, granted recognition to the University of Cundinamarca for the progress in the high quality accreditation processes of the Bachelor's Degree in Basic Education with Emphasis in Social Sciences program.

This recognition was praised by the Minister of Education, Yaneth Giha Tovar, who highlighted the important contributions that the Institution has been making to improving the quality of higher education in the country, as well as the progress in the high-quality accreditation processes that UCundinamarca successfully completed during this last year.

'The Night of the Best' is an institutional event of the Ministry of National Education, which year after year honors the students with the best scores on the Saber 11 and Saber Pro tests; in addition to the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that achieved high quality accreditation in 2017.

This achievement is the result of the continuous improvement in educational quality that the University of Cundinamarca has been undertaking, and it is thanks to the efforts of the academic community, students, faculty, administrative staff, directors, and all those who contributed to achieving this recognition. Adriano Muñoz Barrera, the university's rector, emphasized this upon receiving the distinction from the Minister of Education.

This significant achievement will allow the University of Cundinamarca to continue on the path of high quality for all academic programs and to keep working for this university, which deserves all our effort and commitment to take it to its rightful place: among the best in the country, Muñoz Barrera emphasized.

The event took place on November 29 at the Mexico Theater, of the Central University of Bogotá, a suitable place in which 809 students from the country who obtained the highest scores in the Saber 11 tests were recognized, of which 50 best from the national category were present at the ceremony, along with 34 from the departmental category and 77 from the rural and urban category.

It is worth noting that the national event was presided over by the President of the Republic, Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, and the Vice Minister of Higher Education. Natalia Ruiz Rodgers, who sent a congratulatory message to the university community for such an important recognition.

Representing the institution's senior management were Academic Vice-Rector Orlando Blanco Zúñiga and Ángela Merchán Basabe, Director of Self-Evaluation and Accreditation.
