Proposal to redefine the Nursing program approved

The Faculty of Health Sciences and the Nursing Program of the University of Cundinamarca, in their commitment to the quality of education in the department and to offering a program that meets the quality standards required by the Colombian government, announce the approval by the Academic Council. The deadline for submitting the document for renewal of the program's accreditation to the Ministry of National Education (MEN) is November 2021.

Through the development of a Learning Pathway, this renewal includes 150 educational credits, with the challenge of training competent professionals with the following guidelines:

  1. A curriculum that considers research as the core of the educational process, in the study of care phenomena through evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and information technology communication.
  2. Diversification of employment opportunities, career practice, and entrepreneurial ideas.
  3. Promoting a humanized environment in the context of care technology.
  4. Training of participatory professionals, with skills such as patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, and interprofessional education.
  5. A learning experience for life, democratic values, civility and freedom.

“The declaration and implementation of the quality conditions, which are detailed in the document, is an achievement of the teachers, the students, the program and university self-evaluation team, the curriculum committee, the faculty council, the administrative officials, the institutional directors, who work every day to offer the country and the world one of the best nursing programs in the department and the country,” highlighted Sandra Carmona, program coordinator.

The academic directors presented a proposal for the redefinition of the innovative Nursing program, focused on the learning and training of the person, which seeks to improve each act, for life, society, civility, democracy and freedom, articulated with the MEDIT, allowing the existence of academic scenarios that par excellence lead to reflection, interaction and cooperation, generating impact with social relevance.
