Promoting networks of entrepreneurial mentors

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office for Communications.

With the purpose of strengthening the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem and supporting the development of entrepreneurial life plans, the University of Cundinamarca held the official launch of the Digital Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Management (CDEI) – Menti 360 at its Fusagasugá campus, a strategy that coordinates efforts between academia, the public sector and business.

The initiative arises from the joint work between the University of Cundinamarca, the CIEMPRE program of the Government of Cundinamarca, SENA and different institutional partners, with the objective of generating a space for support and mentoring for students, entrepreneurs and businessmen of the region.

Dr. Miguel Alejandro Flechas Montaño, dean of the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences, highlighted that this is one of the most important strategies developed by the CDEI, in conjunction with partners such as the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Government of Cundinamarca and the Secretariat of Economic Development of Fusagasugá.

“This experience brings together Opportunity Creators, Knowledge and Learning Managers, businesspeople and entrepreneurs from the region, who will be able to participate as mentors for entrepreneurship projects,” explained the dean, highlighting the broad reception the launch received.

From a student perspective, Lina María Romero Martínez, a ninth-semester student in the Business Administration program at the Fusagasugá campus, pointed out that the CDEI promotes spaces where students can develop business ideas, innovative projects, and technological solutions.

“This type of initiative fosters an entrepreneurial mindset and strengthens the use of digital tools for creating new ventures,” he stated. He also emphasized that the center allows the University to connect with businesses, organizations, and the community, contributing to business development and strengthening the department's productive sector.

For his part, Dr. César Augusto Duque Taborda, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Cundinamarca Governorate, explained that the Menti 360 strategy seeks to consolidate a network of

Mentors that include teachers, businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and professionals interested in sharing their knowledge with the community.

The initiative will address various areas of focus, including entrepreneurship, business development, science, technology and innovation, STEAM strategies, digital literacy, and artificial intelligence applied to education and business, among others. It is also planned to be implemented at the University's seven campuses and at the CIEMPRE centers throughout the department.

Finally, Diego Molano, Secretary of Economic Development and Competitiveness for Fusagasugá, emphasized the importance of these collaborative forums between academia, the public sector, and the private sector to strengthen the municipality's business ecosystem. "Working together will generate greater opportunities for knowledge, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the region," he stated.

With initiatives such as CDEI – Menti 360, the University of Cundinamarca continues to promote spaces for collaborative learning, innovation and entrepreneurship, in accordance with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), which promotes the training of people capable of transforming their environment through knowledge, technology and commitment to social and regional development.
