Promoting digital entrepreneurship

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

In keeping with its commitment to train active and transformative subjects, the University of Cundinamarca participated in ELEDU: Latin American Meeting of University Digital Entrepreneurship 2026, an academic space of regional scope aimed at strengthening the digital entrepreneurship ecosystem in Colombia and Latin America.

The meeting took place on March 19 in Cajicá, Cundinamarca, with the participation of 13 public and private universities, and its purpose was to promote the formulation and visibility of projects in the pillar of digital entrepreneurship, especially in the category “Digital Entrepreneurship supported by Educational Institution” of the 13th #LatamDigital Awards 2026.

The institutional representation was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative, Economic, and Accounting Sciences, Dr. Miguel Alejandro Flechas Montaño, in conjunction with the Knowledge and Learning Manager and leader of the Institutional Learning Center (CAI) for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Luz Ángela Trujillo. In this setting, three initiatives developed by students showcased the creative, innovative, and transformative potential of the academic community.

Among the featured projects are SmartStock, led by Mariana Muñoz Salazar, which focuses on efficient inventory control using specialized software; an agent-based simulation model to evaluate the impact of Incoterms on trade between Colombia and Mexico, proposed by student Hugo Gutiérrez; and APIFORGE COLOMBIA, an initiative by Jhonatan Tibaquicha, aimed at integrating digital platforms through innovative technological solutions. According to the dean, these proposals reflect learning processes that originate in the classroom and are projected toward solving real-world problems, consolidating entrepreneurship as an expression of applied knowledge and innovation with a territorial focus.

It is worth highlighting that participation in ELEDU 2026 reaffirms the institution's commitment to strengthening university entrepreneurship, promoting the social appropriation of knowledge, and transferring capabilities to the surrounding community. Thus, the University of Cundinamarca continues to consolidate its position as an innovative, entrepreneurial institution committed to the sustainable development of the region.
