Soacha is the newest extension of the University of Cundinamarca, created in 2000 to strengthen the training of professionals in the region, offering three undergraduate programs and two specializations; however, and considering that it is one of the 116 municipalities in the department of Cundinamarca with the largest population, around 809,000, according to DANE, the university, in accordance with its mission objectives of training the comprehensive professionals that the department and the country require, is carrying out negotiations with the local, departmental and national government to expand coverage and improve infrastructure.
The initiative seeks to offer more quality and relevant academic programs to the educational community of Soacha, contributing to the social and economic development of the region.
The Administrative Director of the Soacha Extension, engineer Jesús Enrique Pabón Quintero, indicated that a meeting was held with representatives of the Ministry of National Education, the Presidency of the Republic, the Mayor's Office of Soacha, the Municipal Council, the Secretariat of Education, and the Secretariat of Planning with the objective of strengthening the infrastructure and expanding the coverage of the educational services of the institution in the municipality.
The following agreements were reached at this meeting:
Engineer Pabón Quintero highlighted that these achievements are the result of the commitment and coordinated work between the different entities and institutions involved, which share the vision of making UCundinamarca a benchmark for higher education in the territory.
