In the ordinary sessions of November, the Municipal Council of Ubaté will study the draft agreement for the creation and use of the Pro-UdeC Stamp of 1%.

Since 1973, when the former Cundinamarca University Technical Institute (ITUC) began operations in the Ubaté branch, and later in 1992 the University of Cundinamarca became the fundamental axis for promoting development in the Province of Ubaté, an eminently agricultural region characterized by its hardworking and enterprising people.

For more than four decades, young people, adults, and the community in general have had another alternative for higher education with quality academic offerings at low cost, in undergraduate programs such as Business Administration, Public Accounting, Systems Engineering, and Animal Science, and in postgraduate programs such as Specialization in Management for Organizational Development and Specialization in Management Information Systems.

The development and contribution to the municipality of Ubaté is significant, as is the need to strengthen academia and research, adapt and equip laboratories and libraries, and modernize the infrastructure, among other actions that allow for quality education, especially in supporting the financing of the accreditation processes that the University is currently developing.

However, the University of Cundinamarca has grown in the last twenty years in coverage, preparation of programs for high quality accreditation and the needs of the universities of the region.

Given this panorama of development and social support for public universities, especially UCundinamarca, for being an institution that has contributed to the development of the department, Richard Alexander Bernal, a graduate in Business Administration from the University of Cundinamarca and with a postgraduate degree in Management for Organizational Development from the same institution, and current president of the Honorable Municipal Council of Ubaté, presented to the corporation the draft agreement for the creation and use of the Pro-UdeC Stamp of 1%.

“Special thanks to my fellow councilman Fernando Moya Cediel for his support. This project will allow our university to have economic resources to strengthen academia, scientific research, technology, infrastructure, modernization, equipment, a special scholarship program, among other issues of utmost importance for the future of education in our province.”, Bernal said.

He added that"In such critical times as those our public universities are experiencing, these types of projects are fundamental to continue their academic training activities. For this reason, I invite all graduates, students, and the community in general to support me with their presence at the socialization and the various debates that will take place in the Ubaté Municipal Council building at the Town Hall.".

The submitted draft agreement states that the resources from the collection of the PRO-UDEC Stamp will be allocated to the development and modernization of technological infrastructure, virtual platform, communications, digitization and virtual education.

Likewise, the initiative seeks to strengthen scientific research, modernize and equip laboratories, libraries, and the documentary archive center, create a publishing fund, and implement a special program of academic and student scholarships.

It is worth noting that the project agreement has the support of the University Rector, Adriano Muñoz Barrera, and the backing of the administrative director of the Ubaté branch, Alejandro Flechas Montaño, the student community, professors and graduates of the campus.

Finally, after Councilor Bernal filed the draft agreement, the University of Cundinamarca awaits the socialization, debate and plenary session by the 13 councilors that make up the municipal corporation for the creation and use of the Pro-UdeC Stamp of 1% percent.
