We are preparing a new postgraduate program for 2024

The University of Cundinamarca As part of its 2020-2023 Development Plan, it is advancing the entire process with the Government and the Ministry of National Education for the formulation of a new portfolio of postgraduate programs, made up of approximately 45 programs that will be added to its current offering of specializations, master's degrees and doctorate.

This is how he explains it Sandra Patricia Varela, director of the Postgraduate Institute of this university"Currently, we have seven active programs, two virtual and two face-to-face specializations, two master's degrees that are in the process of transition because they will change their name with the new offer, and a doctorate in Education.".

By the way, registration for professionals interested in pursuing postgraduate studies at this institution opened on Monday, September 18. For more information, please visit the following website. link.

Regarding the new postgraduate programs being considered by the University of Cundinamarca, these are broken down into 30 specializations, with 13 visits already carried out by the MEN for the granting of their qualified registration, seven master's degrees and three doctorates, which are projected to begin opening their doors to interested people during the second semester of 2024.

Today, the student population in postgraduate programs at this Higher Education Institution (HEI) totals approximately 580 people. Of these, 290 are internal students, meaning students who, after completing their undergraduate studies, chose to continue with their respective specializations.

The remaining 290 students are graduates or come from other universities.

“With the new postgraduate program proposal, we plan to offer up to 90 students per program, for a total of approximately 4,230 students, in addition to the current 580. In other estimates, we have considered an offering of 45 students per program, for a total of 2,115, or an offering of 15 students per program, totaling 705. These are various scenarios for which we are preparing,” Varela points out.

He adds: “Our business operating model is built on those three possible scenarios.”.

Deepening of knowledge

The new postgraduate portfolio of the University of Cundinamarca It responds to the model adopted by its Postgraduate Institute, which arises from feasibility studies implemented at the undergraduate level.

“At this academic stage, the relevance of deepening the learning pathways of the degree programs is considered. For example, if in a degree program such as Systems Engineering, based on the feasibility study and its viability, the need to delve deeper into specific areas in the territory or in rural zones is evident, students can continue with a specialization, if they so wish,” says Sandra Patricia Varela.

The specializations at the University of Cundinamarca have 20 credits, 10 of which are taken at the undergraduate level, so it is possible to refer to a double degree for any undergraduate student.

“Our students can study for six more months and obtain a professional degree and a specialist degree in whatever each student decides,” highlights the director of the University of Cundinamarca.

In this way, and with the implementation of the new postgraduate programs, students will be able to access a much wider range of specializations, according to the lines of inquiry they wish to explore.

Specialization and career growth

The complete portfolio of postgraduate programs, including the 45 new programs, will be aimed at different student segments. The first of these consists of current students of the University of Cundinamarca, in whom specific learning and application needs are addressed, and who in many cases require specializations as a point of connection with the world of work.

The second target group for this offer consists of the institution's graduates, because they know the university and will maintain a relevant sequence in their studies with a view to improving their jobs.

The third segment includes national and foreign professionals, who benefit from the virtual modality in which the current postgraduate programs of the University of Cundinamarca are offered.

“Our goal is for all specializations and master's degrees to be offered online, and for doctoral programs to be offered in person. It is important to note that the doctorate "The Education program that the university currently offers operates on Fridays and Saturdays at the Fusagasugá campus," Varela explains.

A fourth and final group of clients for the full range of postgraduate courses consists of officials, teachers of this higher education institution or contractors of the university, and public entities, associations, unions and government bodies that seek to provide their employees and collaborators with greater professional training.

“As you can see, the relevance of our entire portfolio will be very broad since it will be accessible to a large number of people,” says the director of the Postgraduate Institute of the University of Cundinamarca.

Facilitation for postgraduate studies

Due to its state-run nature, the University of Cundinamarca It offers many benefits to its current and future postgraduate students.

Furthermore, those who vote are entitled to a 101% discount for having a voter registration certificate. Graduates and current students receive a 20% discount toward postgraduate programs of their choice.
