Poetry Week at the National Library

Samir Elías Aldana Sayín, a professor in the Music program, is participating in Poetry Week, where he will lead a discussion on poetry in music on November 3rd. It is worth noting that Professor Aldana has had an extensive career as a Colombian musician, composer, and performer. He completed his undergraduate studies in Music at the National University of Colombia and later earned a master's degree in Musical Composition with New Technologies from the International University of La Rioja in Spain.

As a performer, he has experimented with musical instruments such as the clarinet, trombone, chonta marimba, and voice. Throughout his career as a musician, he has also participated as a composer and arranger for musical groups such as Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Calambuco, and La Mojarra Eléctrica, among many others, and has provided compositional arrangements, musical direction, and production for recording projects such as the one he made for Leonor González Mina, "La Negra Grande de Colombia.".

He has been a teacher for 14 years, seven of which have been at UCundinamarca, where he has taught various subjects such as Basic Solfège, Counterpoint, and Music of the Colombian Pacific, among others. In addition to serving as a jury member for theses and graduation recitals, he has contributed to the processes of high-quality accreditation and curriculum redesign.

“This is a very significant moment where I will be able to carry, through my profession, a positive message to the region and the country dedicated to peace and life, representing my art, the University of Cundinamarca and of course my students,” said Maestro Aldana.

Thus, Maestro Aldana will be present at this grand event, where a total of four talks will take place, which will be held during the activity, which already began on October 31 and will run until November 4, with free admission until capacity is reached.
