Sixty young students from public educational institutions in Cundinamarca will receive recognition on Monday, July 24, for their mastery of the first levels of training in this language from the University of Cundinamarca within the framework of the project called “Cundinamarca bilingual-Learning MoreTogether”.
With this project, the university institution seeks to certify 468 students from the rural area, who during 7 weekends, divided into groups of a maximum of 60 attendees, will participate in immersion experiences with natives from New Zealand.
The first immersion will be from July 21st to Monday, July 24th at the facilities of the High Performance Center of UCundinamarca with natives from New Zealand.
The purpose of the immersion days is to motivate participants, help them overcome their fear of learning a foreign language, and allow them to interact with native speakers twenty-four hours a day.
It has the support of the Departmental Government and the accompaniment of the Departmental and District Education Secretariats of Bogotá.
Students attending the immersion program receive vocabulary workshops, lectures, and outdoor activities, led by elementary and secondary school English teachers.
This Bilingualism Plan is part of the national program directed by the Ministry of Education, where public and private universities must develop methodology and training in English as a foreign language for students, through the Governor's Offices, Mayor's Offices and Education Secretariats.
The closing ceremony will take place on Monday, July 24th at the Cercun facilities, at 11:00 am.
