Participation in a research meeting at EAN

Students from the Systems Engineering program in Facatativá presented their research projects at the School of Business Administration.

Students from the Systems Engineering program at UCundinamarca, Facatativá Extension, presented three interesting projects at the First Engineering Student Research Meeting at EAN University. The objective of this event was to promote research and talent in this field.

The students from UCundianamarca belong to the Mobile Applications Research Group. Their first project was the recognition of BCC codes and the detection of diseases in coffee crops. They are developing a mobile application to help identify pests and diseases in coffee crops.

“This project has a great social impact because the idea of the application is that a coffee grower can determine the degree of infection that the crop has and according to certain parameters, make the decision to intervene in the crop with some nutrient or with some fertilizer in order to save it. The idea is to provide technical support through technology to coffee growers,” said Cesar Barahona, the professor who advises the project.

The second project presented was the development of an application to build a master document related to the renewal of qualified registrations. This software uses a collaborative methodology where all members of an academic program contribute certain processes and/or documents, and in the end, the software consolidates all the evidence to generate the master document for qualified registration.

The third project is a model and software for measuring usability in mobile applications. This project began with the goal of finding parameters to evaluate the usability level of any mobile application on the market.

The reception of the different projects of the UCundinamarca students by the attendees of the Meeting was favorable, since these projects are applicable to the community in general and affect it in a positive way, characteristics of the transmodern university of the 21st Century.
