The administration of UCundinamarca, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Political Science, and the Music program, regret the passing of student Cristian Alexander Rojas on July 18.
“We will always remember his commitment and the respect that characterized him. His dream of becoming a great musician, and of bringing that pride to his mother and siblings, whom we wholeheartedly support at this time, remains in our hearts,” said Dean Darwin Andrés Díaz Gómez.
Cristian Alexander loved music from a very young age. He belonged to the Guateque band in Cundinamarca, his hometown and where he lived. “We are all deeply affected by his passing. We will remember him as a responsible and kind young man. We spoke just a few days ago. In addition to studying at the university, he was also pursuing a technical degree in music, and he asked me for a repertoire. He said goodbye, telling me he would work on it,” said trumpet teacher Carlos Alexis Pachón Martínez.
The teacher, who was his mentor and friend, also recalled that a few months ago he auditioned to be part of the Colombian-Swiss Symphony Orchestra and was planning to move to Zipaquirá in the coming weeks to continue his studies. “He had great talent and commitment, and as his teacher I always encouraged him to keep fighting for his dream.”.
To the family of this talented and committed young man, UCundinamarca sends its condolences and solidarity.
Peace be upon his soul.
