The UCundinamarca Sports Club is celebrating a historic week for its sports teams. Between September 27th and 28th, the athletes brought honor to the institution in two important regional competitions, demonstrating the high level of competition achieved by the teams.
Swimming wins 51 medals in Guaduas
The swimming team participated in the First Guaduas Swimming Festival 2025 with 25 athletes competing in nine categories: Initiation, Minors A and B, Children A and B, Youth A and B, Adults, Masters and Seniors.
The medal haul was exceptional: 27 golds, 14 silvers, 10 bronzes and an outstanding first place in the overall classification, facing 135 athletes from 7 clubs from different regions of the country.
Anyi Lorena Colmenares Galeano, the team's coach, highlighted "the team's effort, dedication, and discipline" and acknowledged the collaborative work with her colleague Lisbeth Nallibe Rincón Cuellar in constantly motivating the athletes. The team is already preparing for its next competition, the Girardot City Cup, scheduled for October 9-12, 2025.
Children's cycling reaches the podium in Soacha
On September 28th, 10 boys and girls from the UCundinamarca Sports Club competed in the 4th round of the Saurios Cup at the Fusunga Recreational Sports Park in Soacha. The competition brought together 356 participants from 11 clubs in the Push Bike and MTB categories.
The results were outstanding: 6 cyclists qualified for the finals and 3 reached the podium. Numar José Bueno Villamil won gold in Push Bike 2020, while María Paz Gómez Restrepo took silver in the same category. Zoé Anahí Morales Pacheco finished fourth in Push Bike 2021.
“It was a demanding test due to the weather and the difficulty of the tracks, but our athletes demonstrated discipline, technique and great preparation,” said coach Carlos Andrés Lote Pérez.
Upcoming competitive challenges
The children's cycling team continues training for two important competitions: the Mariana Pajón Fun Run on October 11 and 12 in Barranquilla and the III Children's Cycling Cup Centro Académico Deportivo CAD 2025 on October 25.
Lote Pérez highlighted the fundamental support of the families and the work of the technical staff in the sporting and human development of the children.
These achievements demonstrate that UCundinamarca not only seeks competitive results, but also prioritizes values-based education. The institution's commitment to youth sports solidifies the university's position as a regional leader in disciplines such as swimming and children's cycling.
Successful participation in both competitions demonstrates the level achieved by the institutional sports programs and the potential of the young athletes from Cundinamarca who proudly represent the university colors in regional and national settings.
