The 2020 lockdowns due to COVID-19 accelerated e-commerce. In our community, graduates and students launched various ventures using digital platforms that boosted the promotion and sale of services and products. In Latin America, the e-commerce industry grew by 661% compared to 2019, and in Colombia, it increased by 53.11%, according to figures from Euromonitor International.

In 2021, e-commerce continues to gain momentum. For example, CyberDay in Colombia is approaching, taking place from October 4th to 6th, 2021, and is organized by the Colombian Chamber of Electronic Commerce. This event promotes online sales with discounts and promotions greater than those offered in any other month of the year.

However, in this scenario where not only businesses and the government but also consumers are involved, it is important to reflect on the rights and precautions that online shoppers should take into account.

Below, we explain the rights of online consumers.

Artificial intelligence in favor of online customers

Knasta.com.co It is a platform that allows you to search, compare and verify if the offers published by online stores and retail portals are real, or if the prices were inflated to make them seem attractive to users, through artificial intelligence.

“The goal of Knasta.com.co is to boost and strengthen e-commerce in the region by promoting transparency in historical retail price information so that people who buy online know if what they are purchasing is a real deal,” said Aldo Ojeda, business developer for the firm.

Three of the benefits of e-commerce

1. Worldwide sales

Business open to everyone.

2. Sales 24/7, 365 days a year

An online store is available 24 hours a day, offering customers the convenience of shopping at any time they wish.

3. Data collection

Collecting user information allows companies to design personalized digital marketing and loyalty strategies.
