The Academic Council of UCundinamarca approved on April 6, 2021 the agreement that regulates the Institutional Volunteer Program proposed by the Directorate of University Social Interaction and the area of Social Responsibility, which allows the participation of internal and external interest groups.
The new agreement defines Institutional Volunteering as “the process of social participation by the agents that make up the university community. Its purpose is the exchange of knowledge and the generation of actions to meet the needs of communities, with the aim of contributing to collective well-being. This exercise is developed within a framework of individual autonomy and solidarity without economic motives, which contributes to the multidimensional development of its participants as transhuman, active, and transformative subjects.”.
This Agreement incorporates key elements of the Digital and Transmodern Educational Model – MEDIT and the University Social Interaction Policy – ISU. “One of its novel aspects is that it opens the possibility of participation to all members of the University Community: students, staff (operational, administrative and management), graduates, and national and international external stakeholders,” stated Víctor Hugo Londoño, Director of University Social Interaction.
He also explained that the lines of action of the Institutional Volunteering Program proposed at UCundinamarca are: strengthening the capacities of people, organizations and society in general, supporting or defending social, humanitarian and environmental causes and international cooperation projects.
Anyone interested in participating in Institutional Volunteering options will be able to access training processes, certification of their experience as a volunteer and recognition, through possible publications derived from the volunteer action.
Those interested in joining the Institutional Volunteer Program should write to the following email address: [email protected] , express your interest and share your concerns to begin the process.
“Institutional volunteering is a program designed for both internal and external agents to participate, of their own volition, without expecting financial compensation in return, in order to support processes that impact the social, economic and environmental spheres, according to situations and needs identified within and outside the Institution,” explained the Director of University Social Interaction.
Let's get to work
Currently, two volunteer opportunities are underway. The first is a call for professors to participate as trainers in a free course on Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability, in partnership with the Global Network of CSR Professionals. The second is for students in the Music Program, focusing on the proper use of the voice, and is aimed at faculty members from all departments. These programs will be conducted online during the pandemic.
Currently, the Office of University Social Interaction, the Office of University Social Responsibility, and the Office of Institutional Inclusion have launched a survey regarding the interests and opinions of potential institutional volunteers. You can complete it. here
