“The ”Night of Culture, Art, and Communication’ event strengthens institutional identity and a sense of regional belonging through daily academic, research, and university outreach activities. It also provides an opportunity to showcase student initiatives through various projects developed within the Humanities department, with the aim of empowering and consolidating social skills.”, Ángela Victoria Simbaqueba Morales, leader of the event and teacher in the Humanities Area, explained.
The cultural event took place in the auditorium of the Chía Extension, a suitable space in which students from the Business Administration and Public Accounting programs of the first and second semester and Systems Engineering of the second semester, presented papers from the seedbeds: Memories and Background (Chía) and Theoretical Background, Stories of my Land (Fusagasugá).
The artistic and musical performance was given by siblings Andrés Felipe and Natalia Catalina Cely Triana, a duo that promotes Colombian music and the traditional instruments of Boyacá and Santander. They delighted the audience with their diverse expressions of Colombian instrumental music, specifically in the area of plucked string instruments such as the tiple and the requinto.
On the other hand, the theatrical presentation was in charge of the Rascatablas company and the native dance was performed by the Danzas de Mi Tierra group.
The academic and cultural event was led by Humanities faculty members Ángela Victoria Simbaqueba Morales and David Enrique Moreno Mejía. The opening remarks were delivered by María Consuelo Castillo, Director of the Humanities Department.
