He is a Business Administrator from UCundinamarca with a specialization in Cost and Budget Management from La Gran Colombia University and a master's degree in Organization Administration from the National Open and Distance University, UNAD.
Husband and father of David, he is 41 years old and has been a professor at UCundinamarca where he has taught the subjects of costs and budget, planning and financial analysis and managerial skills; he has also been a financial consultant for private companies.
UCundinamarca News took on the task of interviewing him about his professional expectations regarding this challenge imposed on him by the rector, Dr. Adriano Muñoz Barrera.
UCundinamarca News. What challenges does he face in this new position?
Oswaldo Vanegas Flores: Our most important challenges are to continue developing the Transmodern Digital Educational Model, which involves transforming the classroom into an integrated space where all programs are structured into projects following the rector's guidelines. We also need to support the processes related to high-quality accreditation.
Facatativá faces a significant challenge this year: achieving High Quality accreditation for its Business Administration, Systems Engineering, and Agricultural Engineering programs. Therefore, all self-evaluation processes and areas for improvement will be focused on this goal. This reaffirms the rector's statement that education is a right, but we must provide that right with quality.
UCundinamarca News: How will the Transmodern Digital Educational Model be implemented in the Facatativá extension?
Oswaldo Vanegas Flores: Leveraging digital technological tools and physical and academic resources to ensure that all our students have access to these resources. Also, through research incubators, we are generating more outputs that will allow these research groups to achieve higher rankings. Likewise, we aim to conduct research that aligns with the productive sectors where we operate.
UCundinamarca News: From your background, what is the most you can contribute to the student?
Oswaldo Vanegas Flores: I can contribute all the financial knowledge from the Business Administration program. I can also support you with your wellness and registration activities. To achieve this, we have an excellent team that supports us in each of these processes. The idea is to build upon what has already been established, because the processes have been working well. Finally, the most important aspect of this analysis is to focus on these points so that students internalize the concept of transhuman individuals.
UCundinamarca News: What advice do you give to young people studying at UCundinamarca?
Oswaldo Vanegas Flores: My main advice is that knowledge is important, but the human element is fundamental. You must understand that you will always be interacting with people in your work, so it's crucial to be assertive in managing your emotions, always upholding the values you were taught at home. Likewise, continue to develop your skills independently and keep learning about new technologies to enhance your professional profile.
UCundinamarca News: Who do you thank for achieving this important milestone?
Oswaldo Vanegas Flores: I give full credit to my parents for supporting me in my professional development. Likewise, I thank my wife, who has always been there to help and motivate me.
