New BPA certification

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office for Communications.

We celebrate a new institutional achievement with the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification awarded to the El Vergel Agro-environmental Unit at the Facatativá extension. The certification was the result of the "Training of Implementers of Good Agricultural Practices" course, led by the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) on September 3, 4, and 5. One hundred and seven students and ten Knowledge and Learning Managers from the Agronomic Engineering program participated in this experience.

The first two days were held at the Knowledge and Learning Management Center (CGCA), where participants received theoretical training on agricultural regulations and quality standards. The third day took place at the El Vergel Agro-environmental Unit, where the audit, led by specialist engineers from the ICA (Colombian Agricultural Institute), was conducted.

Juan Carlos Tapias Duarte, Knowledge and Learning Manager for Agronomic Engineering at the Facatativá extension, He emphasized that this process is a milestone for the program and a demonstration of the institutional commitment to the training of well-rounded professionals.

“The collaborative work allowed us to meet all the evaluation criteria required by the ICA, which not only benefits our university, but also projects a positive impact on the region,” Tapias Duarte noted.

The process was supported by prominent representatives of the ICA and UCundinamarca graduates who are now part of the BPA Committee in Bogotá, in addition to the commitment of the academic and administrative team of the Facatativá extension.

The certification recognizes the work of the Agronomic Engineering program, which, through projects like this, promotes responsible and sustainable agricultural practices aligned with the demands of the agricultural sector. The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences thus reaffirms its leadership in innovation and quality, contributing knowledge and solutions to Colombian agriculture from within academia.

This achievement is also a recognition of the joint effort of the CGCA staff, the Physical Resources Office, the maintenance team and the university community that accompanied the entire process.

With the certification of the El Vergel Agro-environmental Unit in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), the University of Cundinamarca continues to consolidate its commitment to academic excellence, sustainability and rural development in the territory.
