David Pulido Garavito, a music student at the Zipaquirá extension, won first place in the contest organized by the Corporación Cultural Alejandría Fondo Editorial with the story "La promesa" competing against 96 other people.
“I am a popular jazz pianist, but I love to experiment with all the arts. I have been writing for a relatively short time, a little over a year. I found out about the contest through a friend and I decided to participate without thinking that I would win. This is the first time I have published anything,” said David Pulido.
The competition, which included participants not only from Cundinamarca but also from Boyacá, even featured professors from universities such as Santo Thomas.
“My story is about true love, a love that goes beyond mistakes and successes, a love that no matter what happens will always be the most immediate and pure love, a love that more than being a promise, is a promise that became love,” describes its author, David Pulido.
Therefore, the winners of this interesting contest will have the book launch in the middle of the Carmina Festival in the city of Tunja and two more presentations in bookstores in the country.
“For me, the most important thing about this experience was realizing that the worst thing you can do is not do anything. I took a risk and achieved this first place. Remember to never close yourself off to other possibilities. For now, I am enjoying it and hope to represent UCundinamarca in different events related to writing,” said Pulido.
Furthermore, for the student, who is also a monitor of University Social Interaction “ISU” relating to various UdeC campuses, his university has helped him learn to be a better person, “the professionals who surround us in the faculty have served as examples and teachers to understand the importance of being people for life contributing to a society, and that has been key to undertaking this type of project.
In this way, it is expected that the book will be ready by next November and can reach the different libraries of the University of Cundinamarca.
