The rector, the directors, teachers, officials and his work team in the General Services area regret his passing and extend a warm greeting of condolences to his wife, children, siblings, colleagues and friends, who, with sadness and pain, bid farewell to Mr. Eraclio García Forero, an example of serenity, service, responsibility and integrity.
On September 18, 1991, when what we know today as the University of Cundinamarca was called the Cundinamarca University Technical Institute (ITUC), Don Eraclio began working in the General Services area, where he experienced more than three decades of history. He witnessed the transformation and growth of the public university of Cundinamarca, even knowing the Fusagasugá campus from its very foundations.
Serenity, kindness, collaboration, a gift for service, and dedication are some of the qualities his coworkers use to describe him. “He was always the same person inside and outside the university, very proper; the relationship we had was more like family than work and friendship. I fondly remember that everyone who asked him for a favor would answer, ”Yes, Chino.’ Today, I can only thank him for having been such an honest colleague,” said Neftalí Alvarado Rodríguez, a coworker.
“For all of us who knew Eraclio, this has been a very hard blow, because he represented nobility, attentiveness, and collaboration. I never saw him argue with anyone, and today, seeing so many people sharing this feeling about his passing confirms everything he instilled in each of us,” says Orlando Herrera Muñoz, coordinator of the Maintenance and General Services area.
He leaves as his legacy his sense of belonging and commitment to the institution, by carrying out his daily tasks with kindness in service to the education of the department.
“The boss, as his colleagues called him, left a part of himself in our hearts. We have so much to learn from his example. Beyond his academic background, he was a truly humane and absolutely upright person, and that is his greatest legacy.” Katherine Viviana García Orjuela, Head of Physical Resources and General Services
The university extends its condolences to the family of Mr. Eraclio, especially to his wife Rosa Amanda Sierra Duarte (Amandita), as together they have dedicated more than 50 years to the service of the University of Cundinamarca. Today, their life partner and the father of their two children will no longer be with their family, but he will remain in their hearts and in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing a person with exceptional character and dedication to service.
Let this be an opportunity to recognize and thank the human talent of the Physical Resources area for their work in the maintenance, cleaning, adaptation and beautification of our university.
Peace be upon his soul.
