National Government: More money! To guarantee free access

The request is based on the budgetary limitations recorded in the 2026-2 period, where the funds allocated by the Nation proved insufficient.

The University of Cundinamarca made a formal call to the National Government to ensure the allocation of sufficient resources for the 2027 fiscal year, in order to finance the tuition fees of all its students under the framework of Law 2307 of 2023 (Tuition-Free Policy). The request is based on the budgetary limitations recorded in the 2026-2 period, where the funds allocated by the Nation proved insufficient to cover the eligible population, particularly affecting incoming students and putting at risk the access and retention of hundreds of young people in higher education.

In the communication signed by the Vice-Rector's Office for Administrative and Financial Affairs, the institution detailed that for the 2026-2 term, 12,206 students were registered who meet the requirements to access the benefit, distributed among 1,743 new enrollees and 10,463 returning students. Based on these figures and the projected behavior of the student population, the university seeks to prevent financial gaps that increase dropout rates due to economic reasons.

Likewise, institutional financial projections estimate a required budget of approximately $21,371 million pesos for the 2027-1 semester and $23,508 million for the 2027-2 semester. This latter figure includes an estimated increase of 10% indexed to the current statutory monthly minimum wage (SMMLV) projected for next year. The institution emphasized that timely support from the government is essential to strengthen retention strategies and consolidate public coverage goals in the region.
