Traveling Recreation Center

This recreation project has benefited more than 1,000 people, including children and young people from vulnerable neighborhoods in the city of Fusagasugá.

With the purpose of promoting the use of free time and mitigating the consumption of psychoactive substances in children, young people and diverse populations in the vulnerable neighborhoods of the city of Fusagasugá, the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education, through its extension program, has been developing the Recreoteka Itinerante project since last year.

“One of the central objectives of Recreoteka is the construction of the social fabric around the awareness and training of community leaders, in order to generate autonomy and self-management in the vulnerable areas of Fusagasugá,”, Maximiliano Quintero, the project's lead teacher, emphasized this point.

The Traveling Recreation Center develops all kinds of activities every Sunday, such as floor games, traditional and indigenous games, board games and games of chance, motor recreation, crafts, among others.

This semester began in the El Progreso and La Gran Colombia neighborhoods. Each station is led by a sixth-semester student from the Free Project Practical Elective, or a tenth-semester student acting as a research assistant for their thesis, and is supervised by the recreation specialist from the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
