We improved our results in the 2020 Saber Tests

The Colombian Institute for the Evaluation of Education (ICFES) published the institutional results of the 2020 SABER PRO and SABER TyT tests on April 24. Having analyzed the results, it is necessary to present the main achievements of students in the different academic programs.

According to the results, UCundinamarca increased its overall average and now ranks at the same national average score of 149 points. The institutional results for 2018, 2019, and 2020 show sustained improvement thanks to the collaborative, co-creative, transdisciplinary, dialogical, and personalized work carried out in each of the academic programs.

In the 2020 application, 57% of the academic programs obtained overall scores equal to or higher than the national average established at 149. Similarly, 72% of the 28 academic programs with SABER PRO results reported as of April 24, 2021, and 100% in the case of SABER TyT results, obtained overall scores equal to or higher than the reference group (NBC) that are defined by ICFES Resolution 395 of 2018.

Compared to the 2019 SABER PRO results, 17 academic programs improved or maintained their overall average. This represents 741% of the total, based on the 23 academic programs that administered the tests in 2019. For the 2020 assessment, two new groups of students enrolled in the Systems Engineering program at the Ubaté campus and the Public Accounting program at the ALD Chía campus were added.

Institutionally, the standard deviation (20) shows a more homogeneous pattern than that reflected in the national aggregate (26) in the individual student results compared to the overall average. This means that the 721 TP3T students who took the test in 2020 obtained overall scores between 129 and 169.

However, the results in the different generic modules show the following behavior:

  • Citizenship Competencies, the overall institutional average is set at 154 points, two above that defined for the national level.
  • In Quantitative Reasoning, UCundinamarca achieves a global average of 153 points, which is four points above the national average.
  • Written Communication shows a similar behavior to the global average at the national level, reflected in 135 points.
  • Critical Reading, the global average increased by four points compared to 2019, placing it at a similar score to the national one, with 151.
  • In English, the global average, 151, increased by four points compared to the 2019 measurement. Regarding performance levels, 57% of the students are at levels A2 and B1, with 31% at A1, showing a sustained improvement for three consecutive years.

The Academic Council, in its session of May 4, 2021, decided to recognize by Resolution the following students who obtain the highest overall institutional score, are located above the result achieved by Reference Group (GR) or Basic Core of Knowledge (NBC) and are located in the highest percentile at the national level, in the Saber PRO and Saber TyT tests, 2020 application:
