In a joint effort between administrators, teachers and students, a new planting day was carried out in which more than 30 trees were planted in three specific locations of the Chía extension.
In this way, and with the work of 21 people from the extension, the native Jasmine trees were planted on November 9, in a task that was led by the Environmental Management System of the extensions of Chía and Zipaquirá, from where the invitation to participate in this great day was made.
“It is important to remember that trees provide us with benefits such as air purification, temperature protection, and as a food source for some species, since they fix the soil and provide nutrients. Therefore, we must continue to promote this type of event in academia,” emphasized Angélica Forero, an Environmental Management professional at the extension program.
The trees were donated by the Regional Autonomous Corporation (CAR), Engineer Sandra Rodríguez from the Corporation in Fusagasugá, was the one who provided the technical support for the planting and, of course, UCundinamarca provided the place and the manpower.
“Throughout the semester, the SGA's objectives are to fulfill the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) and its nature dimension, working on environmental culture and a green university; our UCundinamarca is environmentally in balance with the environment,” he concluded.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that, as part of the environmental care of the University of Cundinamarca, a recycling activity will be carried out on November 17th in support of the CAR.
