The University of Cundinamarca, through its Agronomic Engineering program at the Facatativá campus, organized an educational workshop focused on revealing the secrets of coffee, Colombia's emblematic beverage, from cultivation to the cup. Participants included coffee producers, processors, and marketers, as well as students and knowledge managers from various academic programs.

David Alejandro Jamaica Tenjo, Knowledge and Learning Manager for the Agronomic Engineering program in Facatativá, emphasized the importance of valuing high-quality Colombian coffee and recognizing all the processes involved in its production. He also highlighted the need for domestic consumers to appreciate and pay for higher value-added coffees, thus benefiting farmers.

Meanwhile, Eric Giovanny Osorio Olea, a professor in the Agronomic Engineering program, highlighted the positive aspects of the event, emphasizing the training of future Agronomic Engineers to produce excellent quality coffee. He also noted the importance of adapting coffee consumption in Colombia to international quality standards.

“This is the first time I’ve participated in an event like this at the university. I think it’s very important for learning about post-harvest and coffee cultivation management. I enjoyed the fruit tasting activity as an enriching experience for distinguishing flavors and improving my ability to appreciate high-quality coffee,” said Lina Infante, a sixth-semester Agronomic Engineering student.

It is worth highlighting that the event organized by the University of Cundinamarca served as an educational and awareness platform about coffee culture in Colombia, encouraging the appreciation of this emblematic beverage and promoting practices for the production of high-quality coffee in the country.
