Learn programming in 2022!

In order for more Colombians to begin training as programmers next year, the Minister of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Carmen Ligia Valderrama Rojas, extended the registration period for Misión TIC until January 21 at 11:59 pm. This government program is providing free, virtual training to 47,644 people across the country in 10 high-quality universities in 2020.

“Equity isn't just about connectivity; it's also about talent development. We believe in the potential of Colombians, which is why we decided to extend the deadline for the final application period of this program, so that in the near future Colombia will be recognized as a powerhouse of digital talent.“,” Valderrama Rojas announced at a press conference from Cartagena (Bolívar), where the 36th edition of the International ICT Congress, Andicom, took place.

In 2022, the government aims to increase the number of programmers and ICT professionals in the Colombian economy, as well as close the digital divide. To this end, it has 50,000 places available for next year: 10,000 are earmarked for Route 1, aimed at students in grades 10 and 11 in public and private schools. The remaining 40,000 are for Colombians over 15 years of age with at least a high school diploma.

“Digital literacy is another urgent government priority that must demonstrate the State's real presence and support through digital content and entrepreneurship models that transform lives. Misión TIC 2022 is one such high-impact program, not only in digital transformation but also in employability, as it is supported by the Interacpedia platform to connect emerging Colombian ICT talent with companies that need them.“,” the ICT minister emphasized.

Currently, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) has graduated 2,676 people in programming. This year, approximately 50,000 more are being trained.

To train these individuals in software development and programming, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) is currently working with 10 high-quality universities (five public and five private). Those interested can register at www.misiontic2022.gov.co y www.mintic.gov.co.

The selection process

Additionally, there is exclusive content for graduates, shortlisted individuals, and current students to continue applying their knowledge through free virtual courses offered by five partner companies: IBM, Oracle, Amazon, Microsoft, and Cisco.

This content can be found on the official Misión TIC website. Those enrolled in Route 1 can also prepare by scheduling a tutoring session on the TutoTIC program website (https://tutotic.gov.co/).
