Leadership and Social Commitment that Transform Facatativá

At 38 years old, Edgar Yesid Parra Montenegro has established himself as a leading figure in leadership, entrepreneurship, and social commitment in the municipality of Facatativá. Born in Ubaté and raised in Facatativá since the age of 10, Edgar has built his professional, family, and community life there.

In 2013, she entered the University of Cundinamarca to study Business Administration, a degree she graduated from in 2018. Since then, she has led important transformations in an insurance organization, expanding its reach into the real estate sector and applying innovative digital strategies during the pandemic, which allowed the operation to continue in difficult times.

But his calling extends beyond the business world. In 2022, together with his wife, he founded the NGO Children of the Earth, With the aim of defending the human rights of vulnerable communities in Facatativá—Indigenous people, Afro-descendants, single mothers, people with disabilities, senior citizens, women, youth, and street artists—this initiative has been supported by allied foundations and collectives.

Thanks to his outstanding social work, Edgar was awarded a scholarship from the same NGO to pursue a master's degree in Project Management, which he obtained in 2024. Currently, he also works as a night teacher at the Fundec institution, sharing his knowledge with technical training students.

The NGO Children of the Earth It has made a lasting impact on communities like the Santa Marta village, developing educational projects, environmental campaigns, and celebrations such as Christmas for the local children. Its work has been recognized by the Cundinamarca Governorate.

Edgar Parra acknowledges that his time at the University of Cundinamarca was fundamental, “The educational model based on values allowed me to develop a more human and translocal vision, which I now share with my community.”.

Edgar's story is an example of how entrepreneurship, when guided by social commitment, can transform realities and build the future.
