Latin American Workshop UCundinamarca 2022

On October 7th, the fifth edition of the UCundinamarca Latin American Workshop, which has become a tradition, was held at the Chía extension. This year, 450 students from different campuses of the university, who are part of the Faculty of Engineering, participated in the workshop to talk with cybersecurity experts.

“The Workshop is a training experience within our Cyber Culture Cultural Learning Field, which aims to integrate students from different programs within the Faculty of Engineering around software development. This year, our main theme was software quality and security,” explained Edward Gutiérrez, director of the Systems Engineering program at the Chía campus.

It is worth highlighting the participation of the second Latin American ethical hacker on the international stage, engineer Edwin Walteros, who is also a graduate of the University of Cundinamarca and is part of the Latam cybersecurity team; as well as engineer Yefrin Garavito, who is an international advisor to the Peruvian police and holds a master's degree in Criminal Investigation from the Criminal Investigation School of the National Police of Colombia.

“Today we wanted to share our knowledge as systems engineers, particularly in the area of cybersecurity, as well as promote partnerships to recruit talented young people from the university,” said Edwin Walteros, the second-best Latin American ethical hacker.

Within the framework of this event, the internal programming marathon was also held among students of UCundinamarca, in which the students were divided into groups to solve computer problems that are formulated directly by the Colombian League of Programming Marathons (CCPL) using the judging platform of this organization.

Finally, workshops such as the one called: Evolution of Access to Applications were developed, led by engineer Iván Fernando Santa, Master in Information Security, who came to UCundinamarca thanks to an alliance with the mayor's office of Chía.

“We wanted to reinforce students” understanding of cybersecurity topics, linked to our specialization in Quality Methodologies for Software Development and, of course, to our Transmodern Digital Educational Model, since this training experience is aligned with the core principles of our educational model,” concluded engineer Gutiérrez.
