Language Day in Ubaté

Professional artists, students, and the teachers who organized the language day in Ubaté took on the task of organizing a high-level cultural event, which turned out to be a complete success.

As part of Language Day, celebrated last Tuesday, April 23, professors Álvaro Corzo Gómez and Ligia Consuelo Barriga from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Political Sciences, organized a cultural day supported by students, who presented recreational activities alluding to language, communication, art, literature, music and dance, acts that aroused the interest of the attendees.

These activities were complemented by the participation of the artists: Juan Andrés López, a cartoonist, graphic humorist (caricaturist), and animation producer. “Jualo” is his pseudonym; and Roger Alberto Santos Pérez, an architect by profession and an artist by conviction, who adorned the university library with his works, particularly his paintings of horses as a tribute.

“I’m not a painter, nor a professional illustrator, but I wanted to share this work I developed in my free time, to leave a legacy and inspire young people and people of all ages. We don’t truly die while we’re alive, but rather when God calls us home; in the meantime, we can leave something of value for humanity.” The works can be viewed at the branch library from April 23rd until the end of May, Roger explained.

The organizing professors express their gratitude to the University's Administrative Directorate, the different departments, special guests, the Ubaté House of Culture, and the professors who, with their presence and that of their students, made this commemoration possible.
