Day 5 – July 5

Living with the communities

It was an engaging day of interaction, learning, participation, and networking with 10 communities from both the Sumapaz region (Silvania, Tibacuy, Pasca, Fusagasugá, among others) and the Upper Magdalena region (Ricaurte and Girardot). Participants included fishermen, sand miners, calabash artisans, coffee growers, and farmers.

As part of this activity, the prototyping process began, identifying the needs and interests of our communities in Colombia regarding climate change adaptation. Ten teams spent nearly 14 hours with ten rural communities, observing and analyzing their customs, ideologies, gastronomy, and other aspects of their lives. This experience strengthened ties, enabling the development and creation of the prototype.

The day culminated with the Design Challenge activity, which allows participants to find the hidden value behind waste, contributing to awareness and therefore a change in habits regarding the use and management of waste.
