Day 3 – July 3

The participants prepared for the visit to the communities.

The participants undertook a marathon effort focused on preparing the visit that will take place this Tuesday, July 4th, to the communities of Sumapaz and Alto Magdalena. Through the Listen, Ask, and Try workshop, the 10 working teams were immersed in the topic of empathy in order to develop skills for "putting themselves in someone else's shoes." It was an excellent exercise that also required each team to build a pair of work shoes that they would wear throughout IDDS 2017.

In addition to this workshop, an exploration was carried out through the streets of Fusagasugá in order for them to recognize the territory surrounding Cercun, applying the tool of social polygraphy, whose guidelines were dictated by the Sumapaz Research Group of the University of Cundinamarca.

The objective of applying this tool during visits to communities is integration with the ability to live alongside and understand the lives of farmers and residents of rural areas, so that they can create a prototype for adapting to climate change with low-cost technologies, and for this, co-creation and collaborative work are key.

“The important thing is to make the invisible visible and to foster a dialogue of knowledge, with the opportunity to learn together in conservation and well-being processes where we are all included,” emphasized the researchers from the Sumapaz Group.
